Midnight Sun Game Players adjust body clocks for 10 30 p m first pitch
10:30 p.m. is the starting time for the game which is played without artificial lights on summer solstice. For Nadolski and Mullins, before they came to Fairbanks, 10:30 p.m. during baseball season meant that it was time to wind down.
“I get some grub, go home and get ready for the next day,” said Nadolski. “I’m from California, so the sun-all-night thing is really messing with me.”
Nadolski, who hails from Petaluma, Calif., couldn’t help but notice the bright sun Tuesday night following the Goldpanners’ 7-5 victory over the Merchants from Everett, Wash.
“Is it 10 o’clock right now? See, it seems like it’s 6 o’clock,” Nadolski said.
Rather than taking position on a baseball field at 10:30 p.m., Mullins is used to taking care of the field at that time.
